Countdown to the 50th Annual Greek Festival

2013.08.20 - Mayor Awards ResolutionFinally, the countdown begins to the 50th Annual Greek Festival!
We are less than 10 days away from the host of festivities, food, and celebration which will mark the 50th anniversary of the Sacramento Greek Festival.

Honoring the Greek community of Sacramento for staging this massive act of community outreach, the Festival was awarded a City Council resolution by Sacramento mayor, Kevin Johnson.

The resolution was accepted in person at a City Council session by Michael Dariotis, Gerri Magers, and George Dariotis who thanked the mayor on behalf of the Festival Committee and the Greek community of Sacramento at large.

At this moment, the Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation would like to thank all those who have been working up to the final minute preparing for this huge event. Over the past several months, our volunteers (some in their nineties!) have clocked in thousands of hours of volunteer labor. This act of love is truly an amazing achievement. God bless you all!

The 50th Annual Greek Festival will be held at the downtown Sacramento Convention Center. Festival hours are  from 11 am to 11 pm on Friday, Aug. 30 (free admission if you get there before 3 pm); from noon to 11 pm on Saturday, Aug. 31; and from noon to 10 pm on Sunday, Sept. 1. General admission for attendees ages 12 and older is $5; children under 12 are free.
