Faith, Dance & Fellowship – Such Joy!

FDFThe Metropolis of San Francisco 36th Annual Folk Dance Festival of Faith, Dance and Fellowship took place this past weekend in Anaheim, California, attended by over 1,000 dancers and their families.  Our parish was well represented with approximately 65 dancers in four groups including, Kategitha, Ta Adelphia, Ta Asterakia and Ta Agapimena.  All four groups proudly represented Annunciation of Sacramento, showing much skill as well as “kefi” and beautiful smiles.  What a blessing to be able to pray with these children and young adults just before they entered the BIG STAGE!  All of our dancers and directors deserve great recognition and we congratulate them.  As their Priest, I am especially pleased to report there were absolutely no “behavioral issues” the entire weekend.  Thank you parents for your vigilance and support.

Additionally, we congratulate our award winning group “T’ Adelphia” for their Third Place achievement in the very competitive Advanced Junior category.  Their hard work paid off as did that of their Director Lindsey Fostinis for her receipt of the coveted Kim Efstathiou Memorial Dance Directors Award!  Lindsey was chosen from many directors and a multitude of parishes in four different categories.  A well-deserved congratulations to Lindsey, her co-directors, Theo Vasiliou, Alexis Rotas and Jonny LaBritt and to all the dancers of T’ Adelphia.

We are also especially grateful to Maria Gassoumis and Maria Sampanis-Eriksson, Co-Presidents of the Dance Support Group and all the board members for another wonderfully successful dance program.

Father James
